Agnes Numer, one of 9 children, was born in Racine, Ohio. When Agnes was only 11 years old, her God-fearing mother died. At 16 years of age, God miraculously changed her life and placed in her heart a burden for the nations of the world.
A few years later, Agnes attended Eastern Nazarene College in Massachusetts. As she stood in front of the mission board watching her colleagues receive their commissions to go abroad, God told her that she would not go in her younger years but in her later years. Forty years later, almost to the day, Rev. Agnes Numer stood on African soil for the first time. Since then, Agnes has traveled all over the world bringing the Gospel of the Kingdom to the nations.
In 1954, God revealed to Agnes, in minute detail, Isaiah 58 – His plan for the nations of the world. Always had a heart to help those in need, God began sending people to her door. Local markets and farmers began to contribute food. An international organization reaching out to help a world in need was born from this small beginning.
In 1979, God spoke to Agnes to start a missionary training center where people could be trained by the Spirit of the Lord to meet the spiritual and natural needs of others. God began sending people from all over the world to her 10-acre ranch in the Antelope Valley – “Sommer Haven Ranch Missionary Training Center.”
According to the plan that God had given her, Agnes envisioned training centers such as Sommer Haven being established all over the world. These centers would not only provide complete training but would be a place of refreshing for the weary: a home away from home for the nationals: and a receiving and distribution site for food, clothing, medicine, and other relief supplies.
Out of this ministry of small beginnings a new organization has being formed.
