Thanks to Bernie Solwey and Marilyn Bread for driving all the way from North Dakota and Oklahoma to cook a “Healing Meal” for us.

You see, Agnes taught us a love we never knew. She sent us to so many funerals, cooked all night long, stayed for the wake all night long, listened to the shakers of the dancers, smell the smoking of cigarettes and hear the wails of the mourners.  We have stayed in so many hospitals, waiting with the families, until the answer came one way or the other.

Agnes sent us. We would not have gone on our own – we did not know. When we were tired she would tell us to make big platters of food to take to families in the hospital and at funerals.

We thank God for Agnes’ people who came all the way from Montana and New York and for local churches whose people did not even know Agnes, who helped us cook, and serve.

It was an honor to serve Agnes the way that she taught us to serve others. But we just did not feel “closure”.

God sent you ladies. Although we would have wanted you to fly and we would have been so happy to pick you up from the airport, you said that the meal you served was as if Agnes were cooking it. It was. It was her style; drive so many hours, come in, serve, minister and cook food. (So many times we drove to Mexico, Arizona, Montana and Canada.)

When we went to bed that night we slept better than we have for a long time. It felt as if Jesus, Agnes and you ladies held us. We felt relieved and happy the next morning. We feel like life is new.

You know, you do things because your Mother tells you to do them, because our culture in the Heaven of God tells us to do it. But when someone does it to you or for you, then you understand the power of why God has you do it.

Thank you ladies, a thousand thank yous.
